Подключение к серверу TCP/IP с помощью PHP скрипт

Мне нужно реализовать php script на моем веб-сайте, который бы сделал следующее:

Подключение к удаленному серверу
Отправить пакет на сервер
Получить пакет с сервера

Все уже настроено на стороне сервера для ответа на пакетные запросы, мне нужно только выяснить, как использовать php для подключения к серверу TCP/IP.

Любые идеи, в каком направлении смотреть?
