Java Swing - JCheckbox с 3 состояниями (полностью выбран, частично выбран и отменен)

Я не знаю, почему кто-то дал бы решения с дополнительными файлами png значков, в то время как java api дает большую функциональность для переопределения метода paintIcon (..).

Элемент пользовательского интерфейса JCheckBox напрямую не поддерживает его, но вы можете обмануть его:

Концепция:

Обычный JCheckBox без текста используется так, чтобы внешний вид и поведение были классическими, и чтобы размер окна можно было измерить с помощью кода paintComponent. Заполненный прямоугольник окрашивается в неопределенное состояние. JCheckBox программно установлен, что не вызывает событие, так как был использован ActionListener.

Для выражения состояния используется булевское выражение. Сам класс НЕ расширяет компонент, поэтому он имеет только основные методы. Все используемые компоненты подвергаются воздействию.
